Ok guys, my parents have agreed to get me a new cat and muffler lol. I like the idea of that high-flow cat.
But I was wondering, will a $50 cat hold up good?
Any more recommendations for cheap cats&mufflers for under $200?
Are those flowtech mufflers any good?
And the thing I am most concerned about is not having it sound like a rice burner or raspy if you know what I mean.
I just want a nice, low rumble.

have them install whatever it is that you buy perhaps?
magnaflow is not expensive compared to the other cats mentioned in this thread.

add a magnaflow muffler:

this is just for example I dont know what the cherokee's pipe diameter is off hand. Just showing you that you can get name brand stuff in your price range.

Do yourself a favor and go to Rustysoffroad.com and they have a package deal for under $250 (atleast they had that price when i ordered mine) that includes cold air intake (with K/N filter) throttle body spacer and a choice of any flowmaster muffler you want you also get 2 1/2inch catback....This is what i ran on my old xj and it sounded great just have the muffler shop take the cat out (if you dont have inspections)......

Cherrybombs are like $20 at the auto parts store. I like mine but which I had upgraded the whole exhaust to 2.25 or 2.5inch as 2 inch seems a bit small for a 4.0L engine.

I also had the K&N drop in filter, no difference. However, I have never ran a cold air intake on a Jeep, just Hondas.
I have inquired about high performance cats and hear they dont perform much differently than a regular cat.
I would save the money on a high flow cat and put it towards a Flowmaster muffler. I ran that and 2.25 piping and it sounded nasty! Do it right the first time and you wont be dissapointed. Flowmasters FTW.

I bought a TB spacer for my last Cherokee and researched it afterward (backwards I know) The conclusion was that they are $75 paperweights that look neat. I noticed no difference in performance.

I think I might want to get a cat back system. I have heard a lot of good things about 2.5" diameter pipes. I don't know much about exhaust.
Would it be cheaper for me to piece together my own? I am sorry if my questions seem redundant, I am just having a real hard time figuring out what I want. And since I don't know much, it is extremely difficult.
How would I go about getting 2.5" pipes and would that require a lot of work?
Once again, sorry for the redundancy of my questions.
