Where did you ground your ground wire for your sub? I just put in on one of the huge bolts that held the back seat.

when it was mounted on the back of the rear seat: i cut out a little bit of the carpet under the rear seat and put in a self tapping bolt into the body directly
now that it is mounted where the spare tire carrier was: i mounted it directly to the body behind the plastic, where the spare tire mounted up.
you want your ground to be as short as possible.

as long as the grounding conductor is the same size as the feed it doesnt matter. you could run it back to the negative cable and mount it there if you wanted to. whether it travels through the metal of the body/frame or a properly sized conductor, it wont affect anything.

Anywhere you can get a GOOD connection to bare metal. Grind away any paint that might come in contact with the connector. Once tightened, it should be impossible to move the connector by hand.
The guage on the neg doesnt necessarily need to be the same size as the pos but for the few extra $$ its always a great idea.

Nowhere, because we don't need no stinkin' subs out on the trails.
In all seriousness though, you can just attach it directly to the body itself like a previous poster said. That's all I've done in all the vehicles I've ever put a sub in, and it's worked fine.
If you're going to do that though, I would recommend grinding the paint off of that area so you get a nice, clean metal-to-metal connection. You can always hit it up with a little bit of primer afterwards if you want to avoid rust/make it look good.
