Default Where to get a full fuel pump? 86 2.5

Well first off hi I'm new to the forum but not car forums or working on vehicles. I recently acquired a 1986 Xj Laredo 5mt with the 2.5 inline 4 that was about to be scrapped but can't seem to find a full fuel pump assembly. The guy I bought it from had thrown it out. I've seen just the pump and the refresh kits with the hose but was hoping I could get the whole thing somewhere. Thanks y'all

If somewhere like Rockauto doesn't have it, you would have to get real lucky at a junkyard. Might want to try car-part.com as well as it will search a lot of yards with parts for sale.

Good Luck!

Note from DJ

Have a look at NAPA Auto Parts part number Part #: NNP B0116P

Unfortunately it's not the mechanical one. I've attached what it looks like but all the ones similar say they aren't the right fitment for the 86 year. I'd guess it might be a flow rate difference does anyone know the maximum free flow rate, relief pressure and working PSI on the 86 2.5 pump? Thanks

I decided to see if I could help.
Thinking no.
The parts catalog for an '84 to '86 is a little confusing.
Looks like there are 2 size gas tanks in a fuel injected Jeep.
22 SENDER PACKAGE, Fuel ***
Gas Injected, Four Cylinder
83502731 20.2 Gallon
83502730 13.5 Gallon

The pump itself does not seem to care.
23 PUMP PACKAGE, Fuel ***
83502751 Gas Injected, Four Cylinder

Poking around I did find this:

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/s...h/applications

Thing is that is not for your Jeep and the best I can tell the '87 and up part numbers are different.
Despite it looking like the picture you posted. Which I am guessing is not the actual pump and just a shot you grabbed off the internet.
So the only thing I can think of is trying to find a usable sending unit from the boneyard and buying the pump kit.
Just remember that there seems to be difference in the sending units based on the gas tank size.
I did also find this but doubt it would do you any good.

DISCLAIMER: Take everything I said with a grain of salt. LOL.

Default Fuel pump 1986 xj 2.5 TBI .5 speed

My 86 Xj has a cobbled together leaky pump/sender module thus .....
I have the same problem, this is a difficult pump/sender module to find. I have been on many sites and forums , this being the best, this is what i have found -
The 2.5 lt four cylinder pump runs at different pressure to 6 lt, six cylinder motor
There might be a pressure difference between the TBI and Fuel injected 4 cylinders
The Comanche pump, sender unit is different to the XJ in the way the float works, there is also some sort of raised metal surround in bottom of Comanche tank
Every seller I look at has a different idea which pump module fits what
The remedy may be a new tank and a module to fit it or to find a used one
I hope someone on this forum might know more than I do ?

On my 1987 2.5 TBI I used a fuel pump from a 94 4 cyl. Got it brand new at advance auto. Runs good, only difference is the fuel gauge reads backwards because they changed the polarity on the float on the newer ones.
