Where are my floorboards
I have a 93cherokee and knowing that my driver and passnger side floorboards were rusted bad i decided to park it for the winter and get it ready for another year of WELLSVILLE OHIO. So i began my project with the removal of the whole interior (just carpet and seats) and to my suprise the rust was much worse than i thought. suprise suprise
now with everything out of my way and ready to begin cutting out the old rusted areas i need to know what guage sheet metal for this type of repair, I will be welding everything back into place if that makes a diff.
i will be posting all the pix of my rusted xj floorboards asap but NEED TO KNOW METAL SIZE TO BUY FOR REPAIR PLEASE HELP

Maybe use 1/8". Or 3/16" under the seats and in support areas, thinner stuff everywhere else.
Depends if you're bead roll it and what not but...as for dimensional numbers, That's hard to tell... don't know where/what you're cutting, contours, bends, breaks, etc...

At one point I cam across a company selling replacement floorboards for a fairly decent price. I would like to find some as mine are rusting where the floorboards curve up towards the doors. I didnt notice this problem until I was running some speaker wires and pulled back the carpet. Would have never bought this XJ if I would have known, but what can I do now besides fix it.

Year: Sold my 1991 to go to school for 2 years.

I just welded some fairly large patches into mine. I used 16 guage which was a bit of a pain in the areas doen the side of the transmission tunnel but now that its welded in its really strong. If you want to make it a bit easier you could use 20 guage but I wouldn't go too much thinner than that. I think stock is supposed to be 18.

My 94 lost all the floorboards as well, i was able to find replacement floorboards for around 200 bucks. I just ended up using sheet metal, and a rivet gun. Tack welded the support parts. But yeah, go thicker under support areas.
