Default Whistle at 80km/h

Hey everybody,

So I bought my 99 Cherokee a couple of months back and it's been great, but I've been having a problem I can't wrap my head around. It all starts around 80km/h where there will be a whistling sound, kinda like someone was blowing across the top of a bottle. It only happens when I am on the gas and will disappear around 90km/h. Any advice on what could cause this?

Do you have a cold air intake? On my Ford Ranger, I get a whistle at about 2200rpm when Im doing 60 in OD, only at certain throttle positions. It could be something similar with your throttle plate.

If that's a roof rack in your pic, it could be related to that. If there are any sharp of blunt edges on the front, you could try putting some tape on those edges and give it a test drive. If the noise goes, you know its from one of the taped areas.

This reminds me of some of the older vietnam helicopter pilots. They would put duct tape on a hole in the blades, otherwise they would whistle and drive them nuts.

Look for any small openings on the grill as well as cracks in trim or flares, that were not meant to be there from the factory.
