Default Whistle coming from exhaust

Yesterday coming home from work I heard a whistling sound when I accelerated. Today it's worse. I only hear it at high rpms. Does anybody know what is causing this.

Its called "Spontanious Turbo Interformation" otherwise know as "STI". Much more common on foreign made cars tho.

Either that or you've got an exhaust leak maybe... Crank your jeep and rev it with the hood popped from the throttle body, make sure it just doesnt sound like its coming from the exhaust.

I want to say it is. I'm fixing to get someone to help me for a sec to make sure it is coming out the tail pipe.

I dont think your exhaust is literally whistling out the tail pipe its probably just a leak where the muffler joins or something but I may be wrong

Oh yeah it's coming out the tail pipe. I hope it ain't the honey comb stuff inside the cat breaking up.

hissing/"whistling" is usually a sign of a restriction, which is what would cause a whistle. if there isnt a break or a pinched exhaust pipe somewhere, my guess is that the catalyst has melted. Did your jeep ever have a misfire for an extended period of time?

I'd just call it a "free turbo sound maker" and be done with it

And that's why the exhaust sounded funny at times and there was a loss of power at times also. This sucks.
