No. Engine cooling is not reliant on flow through the heater core. The heater core is in another "loop" of the cooling system.

As long as your thermostat opens coolant will flow from engine to the rad even if heater core is total clogged. You cooling system wont do as well.. Watch it at idle.. No mcdonalds drivethru anymore...

Anyone that puts stopleak in their engine, cooling system, brakes, powersteering.... U get the picture... Anyone that does that.... Punch yourself in the face and lick your battery. Only reason to use that stuff is to get you home and its still not a good idea unless you plan on replacing everything or doing some super flushing of whatever system u jus ruined... Thats just my opinion..
I cant believe the parts stores, whole isles of this crap... Yuck!

Okay I don't want to admit I have a head gasket problem. But would having a failing radiator cap cause the coolant to evaporate a disappear? Because I haven't seen it smoke in awhile but my coolant level still goes down..

Stop kidding yourself. You've either got a cracked head and/or a blown head gasket.

You'll be fine as you have researched it and you know what the problem is. I still like the threads where someone replaced the head, yet they just can't accept the fact the oil pressure remains @ 0:
"could it be the sending unit or oil filter, would the drivers side power window switch have anything to do with this?"
