who has fixed their heat soak problem

I'll look up how to test the fuel pressure and the resistance too. I assume you mean resistance in the injector.

for me, it was a cracked spark plug ceramic that caused a miss. Easy to find at night the blue arc from plug to metal. Made a crack sound too. hairline crack did it, hard to see it, but it was the problem
As for hot soak, I got a 1990, no engine bay catalyst. friend has a 01 with the catalysts in engine bay, his gets much hotter. I even have a sound deadening, or anti hot hood blanket under the hood (factory installed) and his 01 does not. I suspect the factory removed the blanket to help get the heat out faster cause the later xjs ran hot engine bays do to the catalysts, but maybe the blanket was removed for other reason. .
If you dont have to deal with smog tests, well you can figure out what to do.
but give the ignition system a good going over in the dark, look for arcs of sparks around the plugs, wires, dizzie.
good luck

HEAK SOAK fixed for me....
Who here has fixed their heat soak problem? I have searched this issue to death and have read several different ideas. I just have not seem many follow ups from people with solutions that worked. I have read about vents in the hood, a timer on the fan and heat shield over the fuel rail and injectors. I basicly know all the general fixes, just want to see who made them work. BTW I really like the fan timer but I wonder about the instalation and the wear and tear on the fan over time. I think I am going to try the heat shield over the rail and injectors this weekend.
I replaced fuel injectors with New 4 hole ones from Precision engineering. They worked great, yet at same time, I thought I should replace the Heat shield that was way old and kind of fell apart, being 20+ years old. So I also got the
Design Engineering 010378 Fuel Rail and Injector Cover Kit for Jeep (1997-2004, 4.0L Engine). to correct problem. I read carefully investigated temperature controlled fan, Louvers in hood, On-Off manual fan switch , got a laser
thermometer, asbestos wrap on injector #3, and all the rest of injectors too. After months of trying everything I ever read or heard of to resolve this issue... I found what actually worked. REMOVE the darn heat shield and air can flow up
through the manifold pipes freely instead of getting blocked by heat shield and in fact causing the problem. Maybe the new 4 hole injectors help a bunch as well, Yet , After removing heat shield, NO more heat soak issues at all in 90+
degree Florida in July. Do Not buy the Fuel Rail and Injector Cover Kit unless you want to CAUSE a heat soak problem.
