i've had both a 98 and 96 which i currently drive.
i've considered myself lucky on both as no real major issues.
the 96 was bought cheap 1200 and i put like 400 in parts into the weekend i got it but i knew some of it when i bought it from the test drive.
the only thing i've replaced in the 96 that i never did in the 98 was the crankshaft position sensor, ignition coil, cap, rotor and cam sensor aka ignition pickup switch.
but the think is over 20 years old there's bound to be some things going bad, mechanically i think she's sound.
i have work to do to it like getting all the windows to work, a short in the electrical that knocks out the dash, electrics to the doors, etc, a bad auto delay relay which i can't find but hear it clicking, new seals around the doors to not let in water and to fix the condensation issue when the ac is run too much, well have to fix the ac clutch bearings as well.
nothing on it right now keeps it from being driven more of an inconvenience issues at the moment.
but i am working on them
get those worked and then the van up to par as well and i'll have 2 good reliable vehicles and one thats more or less only a few years old.
