Default Weird height after changing leafs

Hey all.

I've, after a lot of trouble finally gotten on my new leaf springs (heavy duty) on my -88 XJ. With the wheels on, which are stock from what i'm seeing and no lift additions i measured from the center of the hub to the beginning of the rear quarter panel (i've removed the stock fenders) and I measured a whopping 23.6 inches (60cm) between....

That seems quite a lot seeing as i've read that similar jeeps have a stock height of about 17-18 inches....

Since the springs can only fit one way, and everything is connected to the rear axle etc...I can't find anything wrong with my reassembly.

Is this normal since it's a completely new set of springs or is something up?

The leaf springs will settle down over time.

So this is just them being new and when they've had a bit of weight on them, they'll go down to "stock" height?

Seems odd even if it does make sense, the car leans forward quite a bit now though...makes me wanna lift the front to even it out!

If they are "heavy duty" they won't settle down to stock height.
Are you taking into account that your stock springs were sagging below factory height when you took them off?

I thought HD springs would just hold better with heavier loads. Good to know then.

I really can't remember the stock springs, I took them off several months ago and they're probably in space by now.

Backward, couldn't seem to fit bushing in the shackle any other way. Is there a good/bad way the shackle should be facing?

did you tighten the bolts up with the weight of the jeep on the springs, or did you tighten them up with the rear wheels off the ground?
did you over tighten the bolts?

lesjöfors is the brand name - quite popular when it comes to springs in general over here and a good brand too.

I did tighten it up with the wheels of the ground, that might have something to do with it tbh. Not sure if I over tightened the bolts, I tighted them evenly until they couldn't be tightened anymore (with hand tools)

Hm, just to be clear from my side - http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/DSCF7255.jpg the shackle is facing all the way to the left in this picture, to the edge of the "shackle holder".

Spring shackle should be going other way looks like its too short. Rc was having this same issue with theres. Id contact them b4 too long see what they say. Gonna ride ruff like that also. This is the desireable angle....

Hm....strange, since I couldn't even get the bushing close to the shackle with it the other way. And by the way, the shackle in the picture is not mine - I'm still rocking the standard ones or were you talking about the springs? Because I laid them next to each other when I bought the new ones and they were the same length.

The picture didn't work also!

Yes unsprung they were now theres weight on the new ones there not laying down causing to much lift and bad shackle angle.
