Wiper Switch how-to?
Well fellas, I know I said I couldnt see spending the money for a new switch, but its come time to see spending money for a new switch...lol. And, just to make sure I am on the right track in thinking its the switch, here are the symptoms.
Simply enough, my front wipers only come on when twisted all the way and, to turn them off, I have to time it just right so they do not turn off in mid swipe. This was an extremely big pain in the **** this morning with salt/slush/snow on my windshield. I had to twist the stupid wand, then push the sprayers, then time the wipers to twist the wand off. Rinse and repeat a dozen or so times cuz of road conditions.
So, after doing some searching and reading, I think I need a new switch (which sounds like its a whole bucket of fun in tearing into the steering column). After reading all that, does that sound about right? If so, can someone direct me to a write up or some sort of how-to to do the job? I'll probably just buy a new one from the parts store (does this look right http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cat...dName=Duralast )

I think your problem is the wiper delay under the dash, reach under the dash on the left side of the steering colum,it is a little box with velcro on it. Get one from the jy.

nice! I have same exact problem and I have felt that box before but didnt know what its was. mine is tempermental, sometimes it does that and some times it works fine. also on all of the lower settings the wipers have little power and get stuck just below mid windshield on the way down but on high theyre going crazy with power. would that be that delay box too? do you have to order through the dealership?

It is possible your delay is the problem,it sounds like it,I would not go to the dealer unless you have to,get one from the jy,and a spare, they are cheap and I have never had a problem with mine.

Thanks timber. Any reason why you dont think its the switch itself? Is that because, if the switch was bad, it wouldnt work at all? Also, are you sure its specifically called a "delay?" Or is that just its function and its called something else? Having a tough time finding it in the parts book.

The reason I do not think it is the switch,is it still works on high and nothing else is bad.

If they were not working at all then I would say the switch could be bad,or the module is unplugged.

If it was just running slow it could be the motor, but when it does not work in selected modes and does in high or other modes it is the delay module more often than not and it is the easiest to repair and cheap.

I looked one up at kragens and it was $70,at that price jy sounds real good to me.
But I never buy anything new, just look for new parts at the jy,been lucky so far.
