I tried the relay and it didn't work on mine. Its located in the passenger side kick panel fuse box. You have to pull the trim piece all the way off.

i found the circuit breaker there. but not the relay that tells the wipers where to park. My daughter tried to run the wipers with 6" of snow on the windshield and burned something up. on other posts on this subject all deal with older models and the location of the relays seem to differ from year to year. this a 2001.

I am afraid you are out of luck, for the 01 model the intermittent function is part of the switch.......this is out of th f/s manual

"Within the right multi-function switch, this battery current is fed to one side of the control coil in the wiper motor relay, and to the electronic intermittent wipe logic circuit, which are both integral to the switch."

so, by switch, do you mean the stalk in the steering colum?

Are the 98's the same?

I was doing some google and there is a control module for some of the mid 90's zj's that one of the solder joints burns out. I cant seem to find it on my XJ

jdec, mine burned out the same way. I had a few inches of snow on the windshield and hit the wipers. never to have intermittant again

mine just park in the middle of the windshield. It seams some years there is a relay under the drivers dash or on the side wall. Other years have a relay under the hood that can be replaced, on the 2001 it seems to be integrated into the switch on the stearing column. Not sure how hard it is to replace but found it online for around $65.

Mine work when they are just "on"

if I put them on intermittant they move just like on low. If I shut them off at any point in the cycle they just stop where they are rather than going back down

My wipers did the same thing, it ended up being the wiper motor. You can burn up just the intermediate function.
