I bought my jeep a year ago, and I have been slowly returning it to good condition.I've replaced the header panel, spring shackles, engine ground strap, drivers door wiring, battery, alternator, serpentine belt and an o2 sensor. Needless to say I have been keeping up with it and its been a hell of a learning curve the whole time. As of now, my oil pressure gauge won't work. It just doesn't move at all, and you can tell by the operation of the vehicle that I most certainly have more than 0 oil pressure. Originally my dash lights did not work but around the time they started functioning my oil gauge ceased to do so. Any ideas? Is this going to require tearing my dash apart?

Have you done the self test of the cluster? I think u just hold in the trip reset button while turning on ignition, then release trip button. All lights and gauges should go through a self check. If the op gauge works then it's not the gauge. Oil pressure senders go bad. Or like in one of my 98's it has a short somewhere and works during self test but doesn't work normally. I believe if the circuit is open the gauge will be pegged at highest point and if there's a short to ground the gauge will stay at 0. I think if u unplug they op sender the gauge should go to highest reading unless there's a short.

I would go with the easier part and check the oil pressure sensor before you dismantle the cluster. I have a '95 and that was one of the very first things that I had to replace.
