Question Wiring/Tuning CB Radio Questions?

I bought the Uniden package from Right Channel Radios a week ago, it is coming tomorrow. But I have a few questions?

I already ran my COAX cable which is PL-259 from my passenger side plastic trim to the back of the jeep through the plastic trim all the way to the end near the back taillight. I plan on putting the antenna there.

Will that effect the performance of it, as opposed to having it running from the side of my hood like this? Also I kinda think the back looks a lot better in my opinion.

Also I ran a power wire + and - from the battery terminals to my battery to my interior. Because I have it directly connected to the battery wont that just drain it, if it is accidentally left on or something?

Should it instead be connected to the + positive battery terminal and the other wire connected to the ground somewhere on the jeep?

Hi, depending on how you want it hooked up is up to you. 1. to the battery would be good in case you lose your keys and need to call for help...or to ignition where you need key on to work. The CB does not take too much juice to run It on receive, only transmit pulls a few (2-3) amps max. You could probably leave it on all nite on stand-by/receive and not kill battery. 2. the antenna should be fine there as long as there is no metal in the way of the middle to top of antenna or your SWR (look it up) will be high...Tj

If you plan on going off-road it is a must in my opinion. Without it you will not only miss out on a lot of fun chatter but also you will not be able to hear helpful instructions or when the vehicle in front of you is clear of a hill.
