Thanks. I'm gonna try that paperclip thing. The airbag light is on and the horn feels like nothing in there. Is that the clock spring? My jeep doesn't have cruise.

dont use a paper clip use a scotch lock to prevent fire

Nope still no luck. Tried yanking it but nothing. Goes about halfway then theres a loud vibrating sound. Thought it sounded like grinding but it's more like vibrating.

When I did my SYE install I noticed that my syncro tabs were off the gear. A little pokin around and found how to put them back on - they are held by a flemsy paperclip thin wire and would not stay put long even if you never throw it in 4wd. Nothing bad just makes it difficult to move in and out of 4 low. Going into low you should always come to a stop and move it in while the Tranny is in N. When the syncros are off then it is easier to have the jeep slightly rolling - < 1mph - to help allign the gears for the switch. Same for the moving out of 4 low

Try this. Roll your rig at like 2-5 mph as it's rolling depress brake enough to shift into neutral and then cycle your TC to 4lo. When I first got my Riga a few years back the previous owner never used 4lo so it took me a few times before I was able to use it.

I see you're pretty new, have you driven a Jeep before? Make sure you're pushing the shift lever to the right before trying to pull it all the way back to neutral and 4-LO. It took me a few minutes to figure that out when I first test drove mine since I'd never delt with a T-case like that. There's a catch there to make sure you don't accidentally shift it on the fly. Just throught I'd throw that out there.

FYI, It's generally a bad idea to buy a vehicle like this with out making sure the drivetrain works.

X2 It took me a minute to figure it out. Also play with your trans shift lever in neutral while moving the transfer case selector to 4 LO. That works on mine!

Good point, I have to do this about every time I shift to 4 LO. Most of the time Park won't even work, it has to be Neutral.
