Evertime I take off fast, I have to turn the steering wheel a little bit to keep me from going into the next lane, Then when i let off the gas i have to turn the wheel back to make it go straight again. My thought is that it has something to do with the leaf springs. But i looked at the bushings and they seemed fine.

Anybody every have this issue?

lose trackbar will do that or your front axle is not centered,

Check tie rods, idler arm, track bar and stabilizer.

Why leaf springs? Thats not a steering component.

My thought was that maybe a bad leaf spring bushing would **** the axle sideways under acceleration.

But leaf springs are on the rear.

Im well aware of this... If the rear axle was to **** sideways the rear of the vehicle would not want to go straight. Causing me to correct the direction of the truck by turning the wheel a little bit.

Think of it like a rear steer.

The steering parts make more sense. But i recently inspected them and everything seemed fine. I will go over them again to make sure.

Maybe im just over thinking the problem.

Good idea, check all components and connections.


Rear steer only works if it is countering the front steer in unison.

If your idea was actually happening, and the bushing magically disappeared, it wouldnt cause the front to steer either way, you would either a. get a bad shake at all speeds, and/or b. snap the leaf bolt resulting in a fun filled day.

Yeah i wasnt saying it would magiclly cause the front tires to turn.

Then how does a HI-LO Turn?

No sorry, A forklift. Our forklift only uses the Rear tires to turn it. I guess thats what i was picturing happening.

I didnt mean to start an argument. Just trying to explain myself.

Same as a vehicle in reverse. Wont work with a jeep due to their being steering components up front, have you installed a rear wheel steer conversion? You have to change out alot of the front as well.

Haha Imagine your driving a forklift... You turn the steering wheel a little bit and that turns the rear wheels a little bit. Then you press the gas, and the forklift turns.... Now If it were possible to turn the front tires too, You could make it dog track and the Forklift go straight.

Does that make sense?

The only reason i think its coming from the back is because it feels like the back goes sideways when i have to correct the steering.

No, cause I realize we're talking about jeeps, not a forklift.

It feels like its going sideways on the rear end, does this happen on flat road or just bumps?
