Hi,

Im going to look at a couple of ($cheap$) xj's this friday and will probably be picking one of them up.

one is a 89' the other is a 90'. Both are I-6 2wd with automatic transmissions.

now for my questions:
What automatic comes in these things?
I doubt it, but are there any adapters available to mount the d20 to this trans?

do you mean the d30?

and yes you can get a TC adapter to mount a 231 to an auto tranny and hook the d30 up to that.

a dana20 is a transfer case



and if anyone, advance adapters will probably have what you need.

both of your xj's have an aw4 transmission.

 

i wasnt aware that a XJ was ever equipped with the d20? do you know what years?

but the aw4 is a stout transmission as long as you keep fluid in there and dont let it get too hot. a $25 transmission fluid cooler is good insurance for any xj.

simply put $25>$2500

you could easily mate an np231 or 242 to your aw4 using stock xj parts, or another popular swap is a flipped dana300.

im assuming you want the dana20 because you already have it in your hands?
