Hi guys, "new" Jeep owner (1990 Cherokee) here. I'm nowhere near a newbie when it comes to automotive repairs, custom builds, hot rods, etc., but I have NEVER heard of a "bastard pack" until I got on here. 2 questions- What in the world is a bastard pack, and how do I make one?!

I'm looking to buy an older jeep and want one with manual windows/locks. I don't know very much about jeeps and I've been researching lately. I like the rugged body style of the older jeeps and since I only have about 2500 to spend to start, I want to know what I'm going to have to look for and spend to put into it to keep it safe and on the road. So glad I found you.

That's not gonna come off without cutting it. Those are installed on the belt before the belt is attached to the reel and everything is put together. The whole thing is then installed (and sold) as a unit. That "cover" won't come off unless you completely disassemble the reel, and if you do, the belt/reel assembly is shot. I used to work at a place that assembled seat belts (among other things) and was amazed at all the crap involved...

Well i've got a 99 XJ with a slight overheating problem. This is the sencond time that ive had this happen but this time it is after a brand new radiator and a new thermostat. I put a 160 thermostat in it down from the stock 195 degree. Also i have flushed the system several time while putting in the new rad. It runs fine for about 10 miles or so but creeps up over 210 on the highway. What do you guys think ?

so i was banging against my transfer case today trying to get my transmission moved forward, and i actually cracked it a tiny bit.
i know i know, very stupid idea, but i didnt think that i could do that much damage from not hitting it that hard.
anyway, its seeping a little bit of oil and i was wondering what would be the best way to try and fix this? i smeared a bunch of RTV over it and i'm hoping that'll do it, but is there a better way?
