Help, 199 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 won't start!
Replaced battery 2 weeks ago, everything was working great. Got in the jeep a few days ago and it was hard to start, took 3 or 4 tries to get it going. Drove home, later that night tried to start it and it clicked once and then after that no sounds at all. The lights in the car do not go on or nothing on the dash, no sounds or lights. Disconnected the battery cables and mad sure they were clean, put back on and when you open the door the lights in the jeep are on. You turn the key and you see the cluster light up and here the door chime. Try to turn it over an you hear once click and nothing else. The light s are now off again in the car and no lights or sounds on the dash. Tried to jump start it Nothing. disconnected the negative cable on the battery and put it back on , open the door and and lights are back on, turn the key lights on dash are on again and door chimes, but only clicks once again and everything is off. No crankin action at all. Help What should I try.

I did. I have come to the conclusion that it's a design flaw. The way the belt routes around the crank is only about 90 degrees instead really grabbing that crank pulley by wrapping around it like 180 degrees like every other belt routing diagram I've seen. There is no other way to route the belt to get that good 180 degree bite on the crank. It is highly unlikey that any of the other pulleys are misaliged since that would be very noticable given the idler is tighened down after adjustment. Only thing to do is tighten the **** out it with caution.

Hi al, i have just recently bought a cherokee that i replaced the waterpump and thermostat in. The cherokee is running rough and it had a check engine light on...so i ran the code..turns out it was 7 codes...it was misfireing on 3 cylinders so i changd the plugs and will soon be changing the wires...its also came up with o2 sensors...both codes were for bank 1 sensor 2...is there anyway to check if its relay blown? and can you also maybe shed ideas to better my cherokee looks wise that are fairly cheap? thanks..highly appreciated.
You could look here for ideas: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f46/x...-xj-xj-184475/

Well now that's a thought. If my crank pulley is not within spec I wonder how hard it would be to pull it off. Where can I get a gauge to check it, and the other pulleys?

If vehicle exhibits a rough idle, and if a misfire of cylinder #3 is observed following a 10 to 20 minute hot soak, perform the Repair Procedure.
Parts required:
56028371AA Ignition Wire Shield
Repair procedure:
1. Cut insulator sleeve, p/n 56028371AA, to make two (2) insulator sleeves
about 25-30 mm (1 in.) in length.
2. Install one sleeve around injector #3, with the slit on the upward facing
side of the injector. Install the other sleeve with the slit on the downward
facing side of the injector.
3. Confirm sleeve is flush to intake manifold surface around injector.
4. Check injector #3 wire and ensure that the injector is rotated to a 2
o'clock position (from driver's side of vehicle).

My turn signals are messed up!
I have a 2000 jeep cherokee, both of my turn signals have been slowly going out over the past 6 mo and have finally died. It sounds like it could be a short but i'm not sure. Whats weird is that my hazards work fine. I replaced the fuse and still nothings changed.
Plz help!

I'm having fuel issues with my 1990 Cherokee Laredo it takes forever to start and when is do get it started it will idle and eventually die and when i drive it, it will put put and die, and when you spray gas on the injecters it would idle a bit higher, it doesn't get enough pressure to the rail the fuel filter is new so what could cause this to happen.

Ok guys, ive been searching for a while now. Im looking at a 94 grand cherokee. It is acting pretty weird. You can grab the steering wheel and turn the wheel back and forth. The body sways back and forth only on the front. What in the world would be causing this. NO i did not test drive it. It is dang near dent free and the interior is awesome. Hes only asking $700 for it because of this issue. Any suggestions of what this is?
Thanks for the help. By the way im a noob here. However ive been creeping for months, just never posted up. DOn't have anything to show....
