Help, 199 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 won't start!
Replaced battery 2 weeks ago, everything was working great. Got in the jeep a few days ago and it was hard to start, took 3 or 4 tries to get it going. Drove home, later that night tried to start it and it clicked once and then after that no sounds at all. The lights in the car do not go on or nothing on the dash, no sounds or lights. Disconnected the battery cables and mad sure they were clean, put back on and when you open the door the lights in the jeep are on. You turn the key and you see the cluster light up and here the door chime. Try to turn it over an you hear once click and nothing else. The light s are now off again in the car and no lights or sounds on the dash. Tried to jump start it Nothing. disconnected the negative cable on the battery and put it back on , open the door and and lights are back on, turn the key lights on dash are on again and door chimes, but only clicks once again and everything is off. No crankin action at all. Help What should I try.

You basically mount the shocks to the sway bar mounts (not the bar) and you get more travel.
There:

Ther is a problem though, you turn the pin axis of 90° and that is no good at all..

S 10 leaf springs
so ... i've read some builds and some have put s10 leaf springs on their XJ's to add more lift in a cheaper round about way. i believe?? anyways question is :
how much lift do you get out of the s10 leafs?
perfect fit? or some custom cosmetics come into play?
not alot of write-ups or anything i could find anyways on this conversion... just thought i would ask and get pointed in the right direction i guess
~thanks

only thing I can think of is a bad PCM, if don't already have a FSM and a multi-meter you need to get one, and start checking connections, and sensors to make sure everything is within factory spec. I'd put money on it that somewhere throughout doing all of that you're going to find something out of spec, and that is probably your problem.

Transmission question: I got a Auto out of a '94 Laredo, and want to put it in my 88 Laredo, both 4x4 of course. I am fairly positive there's no differences in the actual transmissions, but I want to know what I ought to do before I put it in. The one I've got has issues in overdrive, and is going fast, mine has 182k on it, but I don't think the fluid has ever been changed, and I just keep it full, never flushing it, (at the advice of several mechanic buddies) this one I got from the Pull-A-Part has 193k on it, but it was the lowest mileage one in the lot when I drove up there, and it was wrecked, and appeared to have been taken care of. I don't have money to have it rebuilt, and want to know if anyone has suggestions for good things to do to make sure it works out.

i would 1st try to flush the fluid and put a synthetic ATF in there to see if that could save you the labor if its just a fluid issue......

New Here
Hi guys, just picked up a 99' model Cherokee, and the first thing we wanted to do was change out the fluids. Oil is done, topped off power steering, however it makes noise on left hand turns, me thinks the pump might need to be replaced? Want to do the Transmission fluid next. Should we just drain and fill? or flush? Does the filter really need to be replaced? and do you have to drop the trans to get all the fluid out? Jeep has 130,000 miles on it.
Differential fluid, does it need to be changed? How would I know?
And last but not least, the stock stereo will not power on, so we took it out and was wondering if anyone can tell me how I can test the wires to make sure it is getting juice?
Thanks
Randy

Possible Electrical issues...
My '95 4.0L, 5 speed ahs been acting up. When I start it I have no problems, driving is hit or miss. Sometimes it will shut off for no reason and give no warnings, i.e. no trouble codes, no shuttering, just goes from normal RPMs to 0! I don't lose power though, my lights, radio, etc. all work fine.
I have replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump relay and have put gas/fuel injector cleaner in the tank but it is still screwing up. When it does shut off Ill pull to the side of the road and give it a few seconds and try to start it and it starts fine. Please help its my only daily driver.

on the trans fluid just drop the pan after draining the majority of the fluid by jacking the front of the xj up and then after dropping the pan be careful with the fill tube it is a major PITA to put back if you bend it...
remove screen filter with four bolts and let the fluid drain for about five minutes it is reccomended to have a towel or something to catch fluid cause you will make a mess. put on new screen and you should have gotten a gasket kit and replace the gasket as well vaseline works well to hold the gasket on and then when everything is back on fill er up and crank the engine let idle in park then with foot on brake shift all the way to 1st then slowly go through every gear back to park to circulate the fluid be advised that if you already have any leaks they will get worse because trans fluid is filled with detergent and therefore will be less viscous differntial fluid can be checked by pulling plu and checking level should be just below the filler hole

Tires
Toyo MT tires on Cherokee. I like what I have read on the Toyo MT tires, but I have been told by several that the sidewalls are too stiff for use on a lightweigh vehicle like the XJ. Anybody out there with real life experience with the Toyo MT on a Cheorkee? Thanks. 80% street use / 20 % trails in florida which are mostly sand and mud use.
