I installed an AAL in my xj and the aal leaf squeeks since it doesnt have friction pads on the ends. I bought some friction pads from the local spring shop, would they stay in place if I grind the nipple off and slide them in between the leafs or am I best off drilling a hole in the leaf for the friction pad nipple to sit in?

just wanting to get some ideas and comparative prices on what it cost other members to rebuild there engines.
my jeep has 223K miles the engine was replaced at 120K with a used engine that had 90K miles. the jeep runs strong and has had new rad and condesor put in it. it leaks a little oil out of the side of the head gasket. every place i took it to said they would not recomend replacing just the head gasket because of the miles. one place quoted me $5000 to rebuild and that was with a new block, another said he would beat that price and would call me back by end of day with an exact price. before i spent $5000 id just buy another jeep - whats yalls thoughts?

Oh my question lol...
Will quality shocks (bilstein, OME) help stop it from sounding like someone punched my dash every time the highway material changes?
Or is my dash just loose?

You've got the dreaded dash rattle. Have someone drive and find what's loose when it shakes, then make it not loose
