Would I be worth pulling the 8.8 axle out of a 92 explorer? It has drums but can get it for free.

why not you can always swap in discs - and it's free. What ratio are the gears?

Really? Just bolt on? If so I'll have to keep that in mind. Just in case I spot one that's 373 posi... but has drums lol. That's a ways off though.

While dukie is here, can I run a tube straight to the cowl instead of reusing the stock air box?

you'd have to figure out a way of incorporating a filter, but yes?

As far as I recall hack-n-tap is the only SYE available for NP242s, they aren't common enough to develop a full replacement shaft like the 231s.

Aside from getting a replacement stock air box there are other options. I'm about half done my intake with an air cleaner from a GM van with the Vortec 5.0L V8 which will sit in the stock location, similar to GoJeep's filter. Other companies like Spectre sell a cowl intake with a tiny inline filter. I think some Ford vans make use of an inline filter as well. Some people on here have had the notion to just plumb the intake into the cowl and put a cone filter IN the cowl itself, but that's not a great idea (gets wet, very annoying to service). IMO if you're going to replace the stock filter, get the biggest one you can find at the JY that will fit.

The vib on my 4.5" lift is very small. I know this is subjective. But, you can do lift first, and see if you need it?
