That happened in my 99 I flicked to the side of it with my finger a few times, turned it off and on, magically it worked again. It hasn't had a problem since.
I don't know if you'll be that lucky. Most likely the switch is burnt out because I think they run the power thru the switch. Probably need a new switch and to run them on a relay. What wattage are they? Are they stock? Maybe the lights/bulbs are bad.

Probably the switch. I just want to ask if switch failure is common. Darn switch costs $60 (with shipping - cost more to ship than the part is worth) from Rock Auto !!

Care to make up a word?
Sounds weird but make sure your calipers are tight. Also make sure the pins arent seized up.And inspect the bushing really good. Although it would be much more consistent if it was a suspension bushing.

Have you looked for contact marks where I may be smacking the mount on the xj?

Would that make that loud of a crack? And it almost seems like its under my feet?
You could be right though..
Other things this POS does..
I hear a tick tick tick with each wheel revolution coming from teh drivers side ..stops when I brake..
Also pulls to the left if I get on the brakes hard enough.

Been going on for a bit now with the new heep..
Backing out of my garage into my driveway (pretty steep)... If I hit the brakes I get a decent popping noise (almost like a cracking noise) that seems to come from right under my feet. Doesnt do it all the time..pretty inconsistent.. Also will occasionally happen if im going up my driveway and get on the gas a good bit. Steering is all tight, u joints dont have any play in them..
