these are unibody vehicles so that would be a bad idea stiffness wise, never mind trying to keep it clean enough to see out of. First mud puddle you went though would render it useless.

I could see maybe a small window working, but I don't see the point

Not long term effective. Besides the mud getting it dirty you'd have to get some really hard stuff so it wouldn't break. Plus if your rock crawling it's bound to get scratched up and eventually you wouldn't be able to see out of it. That being said it would be pretty cool to see what's going on underneath your XJ.

Default How to drain fuel tank.

Im wondering how you drain the fuel tank on my 1989 Jeep Cherokee without removing the tank completely. And Without having to siphon the gas out?

I have another parts jeep that I can get a ignition key from and a computer.
Might save me a huge bill from the stealership.

The ignition system is totally different, and if you have 4 O2 sensors the exhaust system is totally different. lol

Check the connections in the dash itself, it could just be a loose instrument cluster connection. You should also poke under the hood and verify everything with a multimeter. For every electrical connection you come across, scrub at it with sand paper or a brass wire brush, clean it off with electrical contact cleaner (hexane or heptane are the best), then stick a dab of a conductive electrical grease like NOALOX, NO-OX-ID, OX-GARD, Goose Grease, or one of these products here: http://www.k1ttt.net/technote/antiox.html Do NOT use dielectric grease on conductors - it is an insulator. Silicone dielectric grease is great for around connectors however, such as the shroud on fuel injector plugs and spark plug wire boots. You can find a nice writeup on the engine bay grounds in cruiser54's Mostly Renix Tips thread.

First my brakes got really hard overnight. You can still stop, but you have to strong leg the pedal. I was thinking possibly the vacuum booster. I didn't know if there was a way to test the vacuum system to locate the issue.

Second at the same time as the brakes getting super stiff I started having a start problem. It cranks, but it won't fire. After its cranked it coughs, like their is air being sucked through. If I push down on the gas while cranking it will fire.

I'm not sure if these things are related, but it makes me nervous to drive around without great stopping power and the thought of not getting started...

Thanks
Sounds like you've got a vacuum leak. This means the engine is sucking in air past the sensors that regulate fuel usage, and it isn't able to suck on the brake booster. If you can't find any obvious signs under the hood (hoses cracked, hoses popped off, mysterious fittings with no hoses) you can track leaks down in two ways: If you're a smoker, prop open the throttle plate and blow smoke into the intake tube. Fix where smoke comes out. The other easy DIY method is some carb cleaner. With the engine running spray small amounts near all joints, connections, flanges, gaskets, etc. If the engine sucks it in you will hear the idle change.

I can appreciate the notion but as others mention it would be a bust. You'd need to make almost the entire floor transparent to get any real value out of that (and take out your seats lol). A better investment of your time would be to figure out armor underneath that prevents getting hung up. I've seen a couple of builds where basically the whole underside is plated and it should slide over almost anything. I think the transfer case was clocked to be flat, armor along the frame rails, and then armor from the frame rails to the rocker.

Not only that. wouldnt it get chips and scratchs just from road travel with all the stuff the wheels kick up behind them? as for the no break. well. you could always devise a quick release system so that you can take out the broken peice and slap in a new pane real fast?

Without siphoning? You could run it 'til it dies I guess... why do you want to avoid removing the tank? Normally people drain it in order to get it out

I need to drain the bad gas out of it, there was diesel put in it last, mistaken it for reg. gas since it was unmarked and in a reg. gas can.

Could you disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail then let the pump "prime". Not sure if that would run the fuel out or not just an idea.
