Hello Everyone, So I finally finished rebuilding the engine, and transmission, so I got the power to run the lift kit and bigger tires not too big just some 32's. Now all I need is the Right Lift kit for my 89XJ, THE ? does anyone know what is the most complete lift kit to installed. Also something within a 1500 budget with tires and wheels.this will also be my Daily Driver besides my trail ride no extreme offroading though, I would really appreciate the response and help. THANKS

Recently my 89 XJ has been hard to start when dead cold. It will catch initially after cranking for about 10 seconds but it's weak and will stall. It will run again after another couple second crank and then it's OK and doesn't stall.

What is this indicitive of?
It has new plugs, wires, rotor and freshly rebuilt head.
Fuel system is unknown and it has 325 K on the clock.

Get your battery load tested, and the starting system tested at your local auto parts store, like autozone or advance auto. They do it for free and it will pinpoint the weak link.

Does it crank at full speed or slowly?

Want to put 33 12.50 tires on canyon wheels. with 4.5inch lift. Will 1.5 wheel spacers keep me from rubbing in front and back?

ive got a 2000 cherokee sport with a sunroof and was wondering what roof rack options i have (if any). im wondering about clearance issues with the sunroof glass and the height of the roof rack from the roof of the jeep. Also if theres one that fits my jeep which one would it be and if theres not one obviously a custom fab will have to be made. thanks for any info on this topic.

Default 98 Cherokee Sport - A couple of issues

Hi, My wife has a 98 Cherokee sport with 132k miles on it. We live in Minnesota where having at least one 4wd vehicle is essential. We love the truck but we're having a couple of issues with it.

The first, it hesitates to start the first crank after sitting for more than an hour. The second crank, it fires right up. We've replaced plugs, wires, and have tried injector cleaner. My mom has the same vehicle and hers does the same thing.

Second, the truck generates very little heat in the winter (which doesn't bode well in MN). We did the flush/fill of the radiator and replaced the thermostat. I've heard about a common problem in this model with the heater doors breaking or sticking partially open. Could this be the issue? If so, how hard is this to fix?

Thanks!

Might be the fuel pump is going and on the 98 i think its easy to replace but someone with a 95-98 will def be able to answer that faster

alright
so while trying to figure out my steering slop grimlins... I had my friend move the steering slop while I sat under the jeep to check everything out. Well... I noticed that before the wheels turned the front end of the jeep was moving left or right lol. What does that mean? I did notice that the shaft was spinning before the wheels were moving, and I noticed that there was a lot of movement in the track bar where it connects to the chassis.

It means you need a new track bar. A common problem as far as I can tell, I needed to replace it on both my jeeps, plus one I looked at for someone else to buy was bad too. About $200, a bit of a nuisance to replace, the nut holding the "ball joint" end (drivers side) is in an awkward spot. On mine, it was rusted up, the cotter pin wouldn't come out, the stud of the "ball joint" was loose in the hole, so I ended up removing the whole bracket to be able to work on it.

It's a new battery and good starter. It cranks at a good speed.

We don't have autozone or advance auto here......just Canadian Tire
Could the coil be going bad or weak? The alternator condition is unknown. Could that cause the problem?

Only when you turn. It will likely still rub at full wheel stuff, and require a bit of trimming

Next step - check if you are getting spark at all cylinders when cranking. Disable the fuel system, remove one plug at a time and see if you are getting spark at each one.

If you are getting a sharp blue spark, you have a fuel delivery problem, probably a clogged fuel filter, or the fuel is draining back into the tank when you shut it off instead of staying pressurized.

So do I need a completely new track bar? or just the ball joint end part?
