Maybe some of you long arm guru's can assist here..Maybe I need to just forget it. who knows..

3 link build has started.. ive got to buy my shocks relatively soon..my buddy thats building the 3 link has suggested i use shocks that are similar in length to the rustys white bodies for 6-8 inch lifts.. (I will have a 4.5" lift) he has had the same 3 link setup as well as those shocks before, seemed to work well.

My question is.. I found a set of monotubes for cheap.. but they are a tad shorter than the 6 inch shocks... the 6 inch shocks are around 17.5 collapsed and around 30 extended...
The shocks ive found are :
2 are 17.2 collapsed 25 extended
2 others are 16 collapsed 26 extended.

I could move the longest shocks to the front, and use a home-made bracket to add about 2 inches of length to it by moving the top mount down a bit.

Think that would give me enough travel? Or should I move on.

Wait until the lift is set with the arms on. Then measure and bumpstop. I run about 3.5 inches of uptravel in the front and 3 in the back.

Thats the thing.. I need everything here at once, install is going to be a weekend ordeal. Close-enough will get it done for me on the shocks..if these shocks will work, without me blowing them up ill get them.. Im going to go to 7100s or fox shocks down the road, just want something to get me buy until then, but dont want them restricting me.

Alright so for my 4wd swap:
I'm at 4.5" of lift now and i'm guessing im gonna need a SYE and i might as well do one while i have the whole damn thing out... So, is there any big difference in the AA or Rugged Ridge kits? I'm going to use a front drive shaft in the rear after the SYE, any tips for that?

Mine are Teraflex lift shocks for a JK
Front 16.51"C/28.09"E = 10"T
Rear 17.25"C/26.89"E = 9"T

With them i have about 3" of uptravel before they hit the stops, and i've never maxed the downtravel. If you go with those shocks forget the home-made bracket (you'll bottom out the shock all the time), and use the 16/26s in the front, 17/25s in the back. You'll have plenty of droop with that setup

nope - just get whichever is cheapest.
Make sure you get a kit with the output shaft seal since yours is a 94.
Any front shaft from a 4x4 auto XJ will work

The tranny im getting is from a 95 but that output seal didnt change that year did it? Rugged Ridge kit from Serious is what im looking at, I'll PM him

mmm yea it looks like it comes with a whole new tail cone so i believe you should be ok.

more than enough. You need to limit the suspension somehow - either with shocks (not recommended) or limiting straps. Your driveshaft will snap the ujoint if you let the suspension droop too far.

I will probably be bumpstoping and adding some kind of straps.

I just figured that at 4.5" (which is what the shocks are recommedned for) with a 3 link I would need more travel.
