Oh right, i forgot i was gonna do that a year ago when i first found it *epic double facepalm*
Anyways the crack follows one of the reinforcement groves or w/e they're called. I guess i can try both, tack it then rivet on a plate.

I did this and the 703 upgrade about the same time, my MPG went up by about 5-7.

New Question!
Sorry, Have not posted any questions in this thread. My previous threads have gone cold, and my issues while diagnosing tend to change drastically!
I bought a renix 1988 Jeep XJ Pioneer 4.0 I6. The original problem was that it would severely overheat (that's also why i got it for $800). I had a no-start problem that I figured out myself, I had every reason to believe it was electrical related, but it ended up just being a bad lock cylinder in the steering column.
So its still overheating, not as bad, or as quickly, but at this point I cant trust it to go on a 30 mile trip.
What I've done so far:
-replaced thermostat w/ weep holes on 12 and 6 o'clock positions
-replaced fan clutch
-replaced water pump
-replaced overflow tank cap (tank appears to be in good condition old.. but good)
-replaced head with rebuillt head
-replaced upper and lower radiator hoses
-tested that electric aux fan works... it does
-tested electric aux fan relay works properly... i THINK it does
-jumped radiator temperature thermostat & radiator fan worked immediately
and prevents Jeep from overheating...
-Burped cooling system over and over again!!
-The system has plenty of coolant. With the engine off, the coolant bottle has about an inch of coolant in it...
-*replaced the radiator thermostat*
Even with the rad. therm. replaced the Jeep's temp will exceed 210 and the electric fan will not kick on. I think the rad. therm. should close the circuit at 180 or 185 deg. I pointed my laser temp gun at the brass fitting today it said 120 deg. when the guage inside said 210.
I took readings on the surface of the radiator with my laser temp gun (whatever its called), the middle of the radiator 178 deg.
Another thing worth noting...
The fan will not work when the engine is cold, when the A/C is on in the Jeep.
What do you guys think the problem is?
Im on the fence, on whether the radiator is causing all my problems! Afterall I have almost 200k miles on the Jeep.
