Is there any way to test the wiring for my rear o2 sensor? The mechanic said I was getting a bad reading from the rear o2 sensor and since it is a new o2 sensor he thinks it is the wiring going to the o2 sensor. Is there anyway to just bypass/get rid of the rear o2 all together?

+1 continuity test. Also test each of them to a known ground in case of a ground short. Rear O2 wire is probably chewed up by a drive shaft.
Since you didn't list your year, and your pic looks like a 97+, I'm going to assume you have a 97+. On the OBD-2 models the downstream O2s are involved in setting fuel trim.

intermittent miss
I've got an 87 cherokee with a 4.0 that I bought back in June of 2012. It has an intermittent miss that is driving me bat-s#@t crazy. I have done all of "cruisers" renix jeep refresh tips. I have replaced the TPS, 02 sensor, ignition module (under the coil), cap, rotor, plugs, wires, crank position sensor, and gave tripple checked all plug in connectors. It passed emmisions with flying colors and starts and runs rwally good with no issues other than the intermittent miss. It does it mostly when driving at a steady speed and may do it only once or twice in 20 miles and sometimes it does it every minute or so. It does NOT miss when accelerating or sitting still idling. I don't think its an interuption in spark because the aftermarket tach does not glitch when it misses. When it misses it is a very quick slight jerk and sometimes it is a light miss and sometimes it is a hard miss. I have tried every connector under the hood and I can not get it to miss when idling. The fuel pump is noisy sometimes but it misses whether the pump is being noisy or not. The only thing I can think of now that it could be is a sticking injector or a bad ECM since it seems to go away after I've unplugged the battery but it comes back in a day or two. I'm at my wits end. I've worked on cars for over 20 years but this one has gotten the best of me. Surely somebody else here has had the same problem and found the solution. I am fed up with this stupid Jeep and I am dangerously close to taking it out in the desert and tossing a couple of road flares in it and walking away. Or putting it on craigslist. I've put a ton of money into this bastard trying ti get rid of this stupid miss anx I'll never get out of it what I've put into it. Somebody please help. My Jeep's future is precariously hanging by a thread.

I wouldn't run new wire if the wire that's there is good. Do you have a multi meter? It's easy to test the wiring if you have a meter and can get to both ends of the wire, check to see that the wire isn't broken, and that it's not got the insulation rubbed off, and is grounding out on something.

As long as you can find out where it connects to the ECM, or wherever the connect you can check for a break in the wire. Find out whitch pins in the connectors at the ECM or wherever they connect to are for the o2 sensor, jump the wires together at the o2 sensor plug, and hold your test leads on the pens at the connector for the ECM. It you he. Resistance, the wires are good. Then check the wires to ground, find a goo ground and hold one test lead on the wire and one on the ground one wire at a time, if there is resistance, then the wires have a bad place in them.
