I've got an 87 cherokee with a 4.0 that I bought back in June of 2012. It has an intermittent miss that is driving me bat-s#@t crazy. I have done all of "cruisers" renix jeep refresh tips. I have replaced the TPS, 02 sensor, ignition module (under the coil), cap, rotor, plugs, wires, crank position sensor, and gave tripple checked all plug in connectors. It passed emmisions with flying colors and starts and runs rwally good with no issues other than the intermittent miss. It does it mostly when driving at a steady speed and may do it only once or twice in 20 miles and sometimes it does it every minute or so. It does NOT miss when accelerating or sitting still idling. I don't think its an interuption in spark because the aftermarket tach does not glitch when it misses. When it misses it is a very quick slight jerk and sometimes it is a light miss and sometimes it is a hard miss. I have tried every connector under the hood and I can not get it to miss when idling. The fuel pump is noisy sometimes but it misses whether the pump is being noisy or not. The only thing I can think of now that it could be is a sticking injector or a bad ECM since it seems to go away after I've unplugged the battery but it comes back in a day or two. I'm at my wits end. I've worked on cars for over 20 years but this one has gotten the best of me. Surely somebody else here has had the same problem and found the solution. I am fed up with this stupid Jeep and I am dangerously close to taking it out in the desert and tossing a couple of road flares in it and walking away. Or putting it on craigslist. I've put a ton of money into this bastard trying ti get rid of this stupid miss anx I'll never get out of it what I've put into it. Somebody please help. My Jeep's future is precariously hanging by a thread.
Do you get any backfires, or just misses at speed?
Anyone have any other suggestions?

Start a new thread on this one as you're not getting any help here. It really could be a lot of different things. You may even have to bring it into a good shop to track it down. There may be multiple things that are marginal that don't show up until under load. In your driveway, bring the rpm up to 2000 and see if you can get the miss to duplicate. At that point, you might be able to find out if it's a specific cylinder. I'd pull the injectors and clean/inspect them.

Yeah I'm an idiot, forgot to take the mounts off the old radiator. Realized this after drilling holes and driving around everywhere looking for stud extensions.
Hey, I hardly use this forum but I tried to lift my jeep last weekend.my 99 cherokee rear leaf spring bolt is stuck. Trust me, I ran all throughout this forum and I found out what was wrong. The only problem is ordering the bolt. I was wondering the front and rear bolts on the rear leaf spring are they the same? I would like to order all 4.

stuck how? In the bushing sleeve or you just can't break it free from the nut?

A radiator isn't something I would get from a junkyard though. I'd only buy a new replacement. Too many ways they can fail and you wouldn't know it till you got the truck up to temp. Plus most yards drain the coolant so the radiator is gonna be rusted to **** inside.

I installed my rubicon express track adjustable track bar last night, it turned my steering wheel a little, which I know how to fix, my question is, does putting in a different length track bar effect the alignment? And does RE adjusting the steering wheel effect the alignment, if it does, what is the best spots to measure from to measure toe?

i think any WJ (99-04) will work if it has the same engine.

strange oil leak
[QUOTE=fantic238;518691]This thread is for all those who would like to ask something tech related and don't want to start a new thread or hijack someone elses, and for all those tech related questions you happen to ask in the big off topic threads. Me and some of the older members will answer every kind of question as long as it is TECH and polite.
P.S. for the newbs: stupid questions don't exist, there are only stupid answers. Feel free to ask whatever you want. "What is a Jeep?" is a good question....
EDIT: If your question is very common (eg: lift) please DO A RESEARCH FIRST and if you don't find the answer come back here, 75% of the questions can be answered within a 5/10 min browse using the "SEARCH" button on the black banner menu.
For any lift & tire questions go here first: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/all...go-here-10579/[/QUOTE Oil is leaking around were the oil filter is mounted, is there a gasket or some other thing that would cause this?

its stuck in the bushing and a little in the nut. I was planning on dissecting the rear leaf off and cutting the nut. The bolt is spiinning along, so most likely the nut broke. Im just looking for new bolts for that fornt leaf
