The year has a lot to do with it 96 plus is MUCH more likely to need an sye or t case drop. But every xj takes lift differently.
I thought 3" didn't really need it, but anything above and depending on the year you would?

I'm make replacement metal center console brackets for 1997-2001 XJs. My dads got a plasma cutter and table and I had him cut out a bunch of them. So I could make them.

Yeah its a nice little hobby, keeps me busy. Actually used it as my senior project. My teacher was surprisingly impressed and told all the other teachers.

I haven't been around the 1996 and lower XJs yet. How does the console mount into them?

I second this the square ones are the way to go!

I had a brass fitting snap in a transmission and a buddy of mine came over with a square easy out. I went in to get him a beer as a thanks for bringing over the tap for me to use. While I was in he zipped under the car got the remains out and was able to be back standing up waiting for the beer before I got back out.

This saved me taking the transmission out, it did cost me a few more beers.

I put the money saved toward a set of square ones for myself.

Never had mine out, so I couldn't tell you. It's different though.

I would think it would be similar since they also had rear air ducts

I just remember reading here that they changed in 97. The pre 97 consoles didn't have the problem.

Tons of videos on how to change it. If you have a slinger beware you might toast it (had to cut mine to get it off)

If your TC is eating rear output seals you should take a look at the bearings, wobbling shaft = no bueno. Those things normally last 15 years.

I dunno how well it'll work now after ive messed with it using a round one and a screwdriver. The brass is sucked into the threads of the head now.

Hey guys, I asked a while back about my leaf springs and never uploaded any good pictures of them because I never had the time and I honestly ended up forgetting lol.

Here are both sides, how terribly out of shape are they?

Thanks
