ok what i meant is the t-case itself does shift in and out of 4 but it wont disengage the front axle until i pull the vac disco, thats why im thinking tis the actuator itself... any other ideas?

that definitely sounds like the actuator. It won't hurt anything if it stays engaged, if you want to eliminate that problem you can either swap in a one-piece axle shaft or get a Posi-lok

Where is the best place to get a 62-63 mm throttle body ( price wise)?? I'm finally putting in a cold air intake and I want to match it with a bigger TB

see thats the thing though is i didnt think so either but for some weird reason it wont throw itself out 4hi till i do it, so im still pullin with the front axle, arrgghh, and do u know a good thread to taking those damned things apart and bypassing them?

(Looks like one of the 2.5L engines had a variable geometry turbocharger, whatever that means.)

A stock 96 alternator will probably put out 90 amps just like most other stock XJ alternators.
There are other ways, but they're not as reliable.

I have a great question. My heater fan switch burned up. And so did about every switch around here it seems like. And there is a newer xj sitting in the junkyard I've been pulling stuff off of left and right and I was wondering if it's hard to take a 97 heater control unit an replace mine that's a 95. I need heat! Its cold here in ohio.

1998 Jeep Cherokee
I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Limited
When driving back from lunch the other day the car just died, got it started again but all the gauges were acting nuts, and the check engine light was flashing and the car was running a little rough. I can get the car started again and but now it acts like the alternator is not working, my headlights are very dim, and all the accessories are slow/ not working. Does not seem like the alternator to me because the battery is fully charged. Any Ideas?

I hate to say it but your receipts probably wont amount to anything. They generally use a "blue book" value on a given vehicle and do not care what extras you put on it. If you are going to get another XJ, I would buy it back from the insurance company (after settlement) and strip it of the add-on equipment and put it on the new one. May or may not be worth it.

i fully agree, to be honest ur probably only guna get between $1,500-$2,000 for it thats about blue book depending on other stuff of course, but deffiently buy it back and salvage all ur parts, thats what i did with my 94
