Whoever told you that was probably trying to get you to go to the stealership.

Take it to a reputable brake shop, but don't let them rip you off.

In the past 2 months I've redone both my front and rear brakes and they're quiet as a mouse.

We looked back and found front wheel drives in 2001. So now the question is, do we have a 2003 or a 2001? We bought the Jeep used of course and are wondering how easy it is to fake something like that... Our Jeep service rep is tracing the VIN back to the manufacturer to see what he can find out, and the dealership we bought the Jeep from, is looking into compensation for selling us a front wheel drive instead of a 4x4, since obviously there would be a price difference. Besides all of this, we've had this Jeep in the shop more than 10 times (I kid you not) at a cost of over $8,000 in repairs. Between what we paid for it, what we put down as a down payment and what we've paid in repairs, we'd just about have a brand new Jeep. We're so frustrated that today I gave the keys to our service rep and told him I was through! Thoughts?
Huh? What have you been smoking? All Jeep Grand Cherokees are Rear Wheel drive and most are 4 wheel drive. No front wheel drive Jeep Grand Cherokees....never were!!!!

Def whoever told you that wasnt for sure know what they were talking about. few years back i had a regular mechanic do my front brakes and they were great. Brakes are brakes for the most part doesnt matter the vehicle. As for the back breaks, majority of the time they just need to be adjusted until eventually changed.

My blower fuse melted into my panel so when I gave it a good tug I had to use some needle nose to get one of the prongs out. Does anyone know if you can disconnect the panel from all those wires?

My question is if i install the front springs #inch) with the 1 inch spacer, and the 3 inch blocks and shackles in the back with the shackles set at 1 inch, will i get a even 4 inches of lift?? do i need at case lowering kit?? also, 31 inch treadwright guard dogs or 33's, unfort, they dont offer 32's rightnow!!!! thanks, sorry if i put this were it doesnt belong!!!

You'll prolly need to lower the t case a little. And I'd run 33s if you want to cut your fenders some. But if not just get 31s. Along the lines of if that'll give you 4 inches of lift... Id say yes.

not without lots of time and delicately removing each wire from the panel, while remembering where they all go.

I realize you're new to the forum so i'm going to answer your questions and also give you some advice.

First off, Welcome to Cherokee Forum!

Seeing as you live in Lancaster, PA and own a vehicle I'm going to assume you at least completed the 8th grade and know how to write a basic paper, know sentence structure, grammar, etc.

Next time, try to use somewhat proper punctuation and sentence structure. Here's why; It will help us(your fellow CF members) to understand the problems and/or questions you have and address them as such. It'll also help your questions get answered that much quicker because they're easier to understand.

That being said:
http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthrea...t=steering+box

It is completely bolt-on and an upgrade due to a larger 3.5" diameter piston. You can even use the same pitman arm.

You need the box out of a 99 4x4 dodge durango.

You could probably find one in a JY for around $50, rebuilt it would probably be about $200.

Installing a JY unit would be as simple as un-bolting the power steering lines, the steering shaft and the bolts holding the box to the frame.

Default serpentine belt noise

OK FINALLY after months of belt noise I found it. Maybe this will help others who might be having the same problem. I was working on something else under the hood of my 2001 XJ and of course my new serpentine belt started its chirping (ARGGGG) then I noticed one tiny drop of antifreeze near where the heater hose connects to the thermostat cover. About every 3 minutes a tiny drop of antifreeze would drip out and land on the grooved side of the belt. This was enough to provide enough slip in the belt to cause the chirp. I replaced the hose and put on a new hose clamp and FINALLY NO NOISE !!!! Hope this helps others out there.
