Thanks for the response. I ended up just popping the plastic piece out and using some pliers to lift the pin, and then yes, busted out the BFH. Worked great!

To get to the shifter (trans and tcase) lights, I gotta take the center console out right?

So how do I get the trans shift handle off? It just pops off?

Just pop the covers off to change the bulbs. Center console stays in place.

Ok, I see how that might work for the trans, but the tcase appears to be one piece?

Yeah. You can pop out the press-button ...during which, it is very likely that you are going to break some of the little plastic retainers. Spray it full of penetrant (WD40 is fine). And futz around with the little spring release & stops in there. You will eventually free it up (you don't need a BFH for this lol, you need some finesse and a screwdriver).


And also, semi-related, if you were preparing for a 2,500 mile trip in a jeep with 180xxx miles on it, what would you change/flush/check/install/etc before you left?
Well, we moved 800 miles in a 140xxx miles XJ two years ago: does that count?

For our trip I just replaced the front & rear differential fluid, the transfer case fluid, the tranny fluid, and oil & filter. Along with a lot of gas on several occasions.

No problems in the drive, fully loaded inside (barely squeezed my wife into the driver seat and towing a loaded up utility trailer ...I was driving a 28 foot or somethin' Penske truck, towing the Wrangler on a trailer: it was quite a caravan lol).

So tomorrow Im going to be taking my doors off and since I have power everything I was going to use Grand Cherokee door plugs for my wiring. My only concern is the female connector on the body side seems a little open to water and mud getting inside of it. Could this be a problem for the electronics?

That yellow ring there is a gasket/seal. Run a bead of silicone dielectric grease on it and off you go

ALL fluids. Don't forget your coolant system! Grease the greasables and check your steering, driveline, and suspension for loose and worn bits.

I assume he means while unpluged, the interior of the plug is exposed

I'd say the contacts are far enough apart to not worry about it. worst case scenario is you pop a fuse.

P0205 cylinder 5 injection circuit

Thats the code I pulled they told me it meant I had to have a tune up but I cant afford that right now...any other solutions guys? Shes running rough as hell
