You must have the vacuum disconnect front axle. Search for "cherokee vacuum disconnect axle". You may just have a vacuum leak or disconnected tube. Alternatively it's fairly simple to attach a cable to the inside of the cab to activate it manually.

The 4x4 light is controlled by a switch in the transfer case. It's relatively simple to replace.

What would cause my Jeep to idle at 1250 consistently? It has a new IAC...TPS maybe?

If the IAC is new and working properly, its either a computer issue or a massive vacuum leak.

Is the Map sensor working?

what happens when you try to drive it or give it gas?

I've been looking for awhile now I can't seem to find anything for my year of jeep. And well I have a 95 xj and my heater resistor needs replaced. And I've never messed with my heater before so does anyone have a writeup on how to replace it? Or can anyone give me tips? Or really anything.

Nothing bad. It runs smoothly, no stalling, no issues moving...no trans issues. It's my daily driver so yeah.

ok so i hydrolocked my 90 mj with the 4.0 5-speed yesterday in a big *** muddy waterhole, pulled the plugs and the back one was completly full of water, so my air filter was destroyed so i drove it home without one and when i got home i put a new air filter and seafoamed, but now its making a weird whining noise coming from the front, sounds near the crankshaft pulley... any ideas?

Default non HO to HO motor swap no start

hey guys
hope I am posting this in the right spot. I have a 1990 XJ 4.0L and swapped the motor to a 91 HO block and head reused my 90 intake, exhaust, distributor, alternator, coil. My jeep was sitting for a couple years with a blown 90 block and recently swapped the 91 HO. I am getting no spark, checked the coil, ignition module, CPS, and don't know what to do next. If anyone has any ideas or has dont this swap any help would be appreciated. And does anyone know what the fuel injector looking clip on the bottom side of the intake with the O2 sensor plug goes to?

pass side, under the glove box area theres that big black thing. look for a bolt/screw holding a plastic cover near the bottom.

edit: here's a writeup: http://www.timsjeepblog.com/BlowerResistor.html

Hey. I had the same problem a year or so ago. I cleaned my IAC and then bought a new one...didn't fix the problem. It turned out to be my TPS.

FWIW, mine would idle normal at initial startup. I noticed the high idle when shifting back to park when I was getting ready to shut it off. If I did shut it off and immediately restarted it, the idle would usually return to normal. If I drove it around for a mile or two, it would jump back up.

Good luck.

Sounds like bearings starving for lubrication. Confirm your oil is ok and without any water. Change it and filter.

on the front wheel bearings many have said you need to replace the whole hub assembly. but autozone sells just the front wheel bearings and the whole assembly. so can you do just the bearings or not. or is it just not worth doing just the bearings
