Stuck lifter?

When's the last time you changed the oil? And when you did, what brand oil filter did you use?

I picked up a front shaft to use as my rear after my sye. What all should i replace on it? Just the ujoints? The thing seemed in really good condition, just dirty. Moved great and didnt get stuck or seem loose. I dont think the ball is bad and they seem well greased and plenty of grease came out when i compressed the shaft.

And how bad are masterpro or precision ujoints? Theyre around $10 -$15 and i cant imagine spending double or triple that for spicers. The jy shaft does have spicers on it now though. Maybe just clean em ip and throw em back on?

If the u-joints aren't dry I'd leave it be. No sense in changing them if there's nothing wrong with them.

While attempting to replace my u-joints in the rear drive shaft of my 2000 xj, I broke both of the retainer clips on the rear (diff) end. Now I am totally unsure how to get what's left of the clip out of there. Here's a pic of what I have left to work with. Help...

I honestly cant see any clip left.. Try a knife or a sharp flathead screw driver. then some needle nose pliers.

I asked this before and I forgot. I don't have a CEL for o2's now, but had em at one point. Wrote it down on a sheet of paper and lost it. Which ones are the most common to go out? Upstreams or downstreams?

Normally the upstreams go first. On OBD-II XJs all O2s are used for setting the fuel mix. If all 4 of yours are original, then its time to replace all 4.

HOWEVER - it depends on what codes you've gotten. Replacing O2s won't fix a blown fuse for the heater circuit, or a shorted wire.

This is true. Or you can be like me, procrastinating and driving with 4 bad O2s until you roll it.

I don't recommend being like me.
