anyone know what the stock warm idle on a 96 2.5 cherokee should be?

I'm trying to track down a p0505 and p0171 code and want to make sure when I check the IACV that it drops to the correct idle speed when I clean/change it.

right now it averages 925/950rpm via the torque app and bluetooth usb scanner I'm using.

also, the IACV itself, when working correctly, should you be able to push on the rod and it move with your hand pressure or be stiff?

can the rod be pulled out to clean it internally?

Sounds a bit high. Idle is supposed to be around 800rpm per the factory service manual.

Also IAC cannot be pushed in or out, it rotates in and out.

However...you are throwing a code for a lean mixture as well - meaning too much air is getting into the system unaccounted for. I'm betting you have a vacuum leak somewhere - which would also cause your higher idle speed. Inspect all the vacuum tubes and their connections thoroughly before proceeding.

Grab yourself a set of Irwin Bolt Extractors, they work wonders. Also grab some PB blaster and a propane torch for heat

You need one out of a 1984-1986 cherokee for everything to hook up. You will also need to swap some of the sensors for ones that send data rater than an idiot light signal (coolant temp sensor and oil pressure sensor)

No such thing as a dumb question. And those switches are real easy to switch had to fix my rear wiper switch once

Default Belt Squeak and Vacuum Squeal

OK folks after months of trying to fix a squeaking serpentine belt on a 2001 XJ 4.0 I thought I had it stopped, but it is back..... I have replaced power steering pump, water pump, alternator and the idler pulley bearing. When I install a new belt the noise is gone for about a week and then it returns. The noise increases with the throttle. Once the temp warms up it sometimes goes away. Another noise that has started is a loud vacuum squeal noise that starts and then goes away when the temp heats up. Almost like some kind of valve is closing. The noise is under the hood somewhere but every time I try to isolate it it stops. Any ideas out there would be appreciated.

Yeah I have already changed my rear wiper switch, didn't fix that problem though. I have a new switch on the way.

You've probably tried this but heck, is your belt tension set right. I know you try to isolate the sound but, when does the sound occur, when you start your rig or is it from time to time.

Probably not the best idea. Especially since it's not variable.
