I just recently bought a 97xj 4door 5speed n the motor is blown, I have a 4.6 stroker I built a year ago, I had it in my 93xj it was obd1 n the new xj is obd2, can I use this motor in my obd2 truck? Ill probally have to replace the sensors bc I kno some plugs changed from obd1 to 2, can someone mesage me back asap bc im starting this project this weekend and im lookin to get the 4.6 in the new xj by sunday bc Im in destrate need of my jeep,lol

CEL issue, sluggish upon startup...HELP!
I recently had some work done on my '98 jeep cherokee classic (4.0 I6)-4wd
Ignition coil, rotor, wires, plugs...and now the CEL came on and I get the code P0138. This is my downstream O2 sensor, correct?
Could the above ignition work have an impact on the new CEL problem. The place I took it has a fixed forever warranty and I would like to take it back to them if these are connected. Free is always better.
Your help is appreciated!

P0138 is the high-voltage code for the downstream (post-cat) O2 sensor. More than likely, the sensor isn't working properly because the internal resistance heater isn't functioning properly. Check the fuses in the underhood PDC (Both O2 sensor heaters are fed by a single 15A fuse) to make sure they're all working, you should also take a look at the ground ring connectors mounted to a stud on the passenger side block adjacent to the oil dipstick. Finally, take a good look at the wiring harness running along the trans tunnel to the downstream O2 sensor, it's common for the harness to become damaged from contact with the driveshaft or exhaust header.

so what I am reading/hearing is that is probably the O2 sensor but check the fuse/relay box, correct? The Jeep is sluggish at start up; would the o2 sensor cause that?

yes it could, especially if the heater circuit isn't working (it starts to work better once warmed up)

no, it'll sound more like a jet engine if you get one that can move enough air to cool out engine properly.

Well first of all, that belt is for a right hand drive cherokee. Is that what you have? I'm willing to bet you have the standard left hand drive cherokee, which is part # 5060950.

The poly-ribs supposedly run quieter...i dunno if that's true or not. Personlly i like the "gatorback" poly-v style belts since they tend not to slip if they get wet or cold. Goodyear makes these Part# 4060950

You need the left hand drive part. We drive on the right side of the road, but since the steering wheel is on the driver's left of the vehicle, it's called left hand drive. It can be confusing.
It looks like they've replaced the "Poly Cog" with the "Poly Rib." I've always had good luck with Dayco belts and hoses, and last time I bought one, it was made in the USA.
