How do you figure out what transmission code you have? I'm sure it has been discussed before but how do I find out?

hey guys im also new here...i just bought a 95 jeep cherokee and it needs a little TLC. The light ring around the ignition is always on day and night. I opened up the steering column covers and unplugged the little pigtail leading to the light that illuminates the ring and it looks fine. Has this happened to anybody before? also that little pigtail connector is a bundle of 4 wires. I know two of them turn the bulb on but what are the other two for? thanks

Are you asking for a general price to have someone do it for you or for you to do it yourself?

I believe that comes on with when the doors are opened, doesnt it? If so, check the door plungers, they also activate the dome light.

Default Axle Swap

The other day driver side shaft broke on my D30 axle, opened up the front dif. and the ring and pinion are bad. I got a different whole axle, with new front dif and all, so I mean whole, but it doesn't have the vacuum assist as my old D30 does. Will the swap work if I just tie off the lines?

Default 1996 Vacuum Bottle

I just installed a new "winch bumper" on my son's 1996 cherokee country. It calls for relocation of the vacuum bottle to the engine compartment. Problem is this is one of the larger bottles and there's no room for it in the engine compartment. My question is can I get one of the smaller bottles and use it instead of the original bottle?

no. The newer d30 eliminated the vacuum disconnect and uses a 2 piece axle.

I don't see why not, but i find it hard to believe there is not enough space under the hood for the vacuum bottle...

Believe me, there's no room whatsoever without possibly relocating other items. Thanks for reply, I'll look for one of the smaller ones to install.
