so i just got back from test driving a jeep and i have a question. everything worked fine except 4 low. i shifted it into 4 high and it was running fine. what could be causing it to now shift into 4 low. i was stopped and in neutral and i put it all the way back into 4 low without stopping. should i not buy the jeep because of this issue?

Decided to just poke around, and I did remove the one fan, but left the clutch fan (?) in and just moved the shroud. Looks like all I have to do is drain (Once I find the petcock!) and take off the hoses. The top trans cooler line looks like it won't be a problem, but the lower one will probably be a PITA. I am going to pick up one of those tools at the parts store when I get the rad. and hope that makes things a little easier..
I can leave the condenser alone, right?

If the 4wd was good before its trashed now never use 4 lip on paved roads let alone turning on a hard surface or rolling backwards in gear

Holy crap dude. You definitely would've noticed it working... you'd be driving very very slow and the driveline would have exploded out from underneath the XJ. I'm assuming 4H didn't work either.

i didnt drive it in 4 low the whole time. i just put it into 4 low and put it back into drive. i was in 2h for all of the test drive except for when i tested 4 low. 4 high worked great but when i put it into 4 low it wouldnt move.
Did it actually engage 4lo or was there slack in the linkage?
