How long can I expect a (93) cherokee to hold up to moderate wheeling?
I keep getting razzed about the "unibody" thing, but I know it's not like a car, XJs are pretty tough. Still, they don't last forever. I'm trying to decide if just planning on swapping bodies every few years is a good idea, or fork over the extra dough and get frame stiffeners (which would be thrown out with the rest of the vehicle of the frame give out elsewhere).
I already have about 3 years/ 8-9 trips on it in Little Naches, and it's had no armor or other stiffening. I'm planning a cage and adding rock sliders this year as well as a front bumper that acts as a steering brace and trusses up the whole front end well.

Just my .02. I dont thrash my rig so ive never even considered the unibody falling apart.

Under 2 quarts for the transfer case, AW4 holds about 4. The entire transmission system is around 8 though. For a proper fluid change on the AW4 do multiple drain-and-fills over the course of a werk or so (easier than trying to drain the entire system at once)

My coolant is leaking like a monster. Its coming from he front right and its not the upperhose there. I can see through tbe front grill that there is some wet spots visible on the bottom left of the radiator if youre lookin right at it from the front. Any ideas what to check? Or possibly a leak from the radiator itself?

Anybody know the torque specs for adjustable upper control arms from Rough country? I'm getting all kinds of different answers from google.. Somebody said 75#'s and another said 133#'s

Hi guys im sitting here waiting for my RC 3inch lift kit to arrive from across the pond,im trying to cover all problems that may arise when fitting,snapping and siezed bolts looks like the party stopper to me,has anyone done a list of bolt sizes that are likely to need replacing?? iv had a look but cant find anything although i was sure i saw a post somewhere on the subject but cant find it now i need to..im learning my way around my 2001 XJ and from what iv read rear shock bolts look defo to snap,are they easy to replace ie can you just slot a new one in from above?just dont want to have my truck in bits only to find i have'nt got parts to get her up and running on the day.....TIA,,,
I did a 4 1/2 on my 2000 xj
And those rear shocks where definitely what held me up they will snap off. Since I didn't have an automatic hammer I was under there with a hammer and punch, took about 3 minutes on each one to knock out the remaining bolt.
I bought replacements and fished them threw with a thin wire wrapped around the end.
There's a really good video on YouTube not sure the link but just search rear shock replacement
I used his technic and worked perfectly
