Alright, so I'm installing my 4.0 into my 86 comanche. I have already heard and read about how they aren't directly adaptable. However, my 93 cherokee mounts made my drivetrain actually sit correctly; almost.
The engine has a slight backward tilt to it. It barely clears the hood in the front, so as is, I would have to trim my hood slightly. I am only worried as to if the oil pick up would work correctly, or would the slight lean create issues? .
There a multiple pictures I posted in my build thread if you want to see how much lean there actually is

do something with my linkage? lol "should" be the same as lhd just on the other side? idk i dont have a normal jeep to compare with but everything else is the same lol
dont the gears for the front axle/tcase have to match the ones on my rear? or something like that idk 4wd is a good bit away from now
this trans is still fairly new so i want to give it a chance to die before i swap it hahaha my plan is to do a little lift new tires and some damn good tow points and then cross my fingers and hope for the best

Yes. Front and rear axles have to be the same gear ratio.
Actually, I don't know what you would do for a 4wd swap with a RHD...

What engine did you change from, the 2.8? I'm not completely positive about the 84-87 model year, but most xjs (and EFI 4 banger comanches I'm pretty sure) just require you to change the frame horns that the engine mounts bolt to ( May be different if you have the 2.8). If the frame horn mounting bolts line up with the new frame horns you should be able to have the engine sit right where it did in the xj you pulled the engine out of

Linkage is the same on them all, much to drivers annoyance, the tcase linkage is in the same place on RHD as it is on LHD. One difference is the steering setup - not sure what to do there. The axle is the same though.
Sciko, your gears are probably 3.55:1. Do some searches for 2WD -> 4WD conversion threads, there are some really nice writeups that you can peruse and get a feel for what's actually involved if you decide to pull that off.

I did the swap an can walk you right through it. Steering was what I didn't know about. A D30 is the same knuckle to knuckle as a 2wd beam though

Pretty simple - steering wheel is on the other side - steering is flipped. Could be the same parts installed backwards, might be flipped versions.
