Sometimes is good my pops is a mechanic. He did mine with oem u joints for parts only cost

Question, did you remove the door switch, not sure if your year has but, did you?

The reason the tank dropped waa because one of the bolts unthreaded itself and fell off. This method worked for over 1 year. I may just do it again and put Loctite red on the threads and call it good. I can just always carry a spare set of hold downs with me just in case. But Id rather buy the thick oem bolts or maybe buy some allthread and heat it with a torch and bend it to make a j like bolt.
Just a suggestion:
You should be able to bend all-thread with a clamp or channel locks. That material is not all that hard to bend by hand.

i still cant find this darn leak! and whats worse is that it started leaking on the passenger side too!

no, it's not the windshield. It's from the cowl intake.
Mines doing this, put a garden hose into the cowl vent to test!

where exactly is that again? is it under the vents that drain water under the wipers? sorry!
