Hey so I just bent one of my rough country shocks and im trying to figure out what shocks I wana buy. I was hoping to spend around $50 a shock. From what ive found, everyone says that all white bodied shocks are the same, and that Bilstein's are the best. Is there anything that is in-between bilsteins and white bodies quality and price wise?

But at that price I'd get Bilsteins.

Or you can look at the N2.0 shocks.

I've been running the 2.0's on my little DD Jeep for about 6 months. So far so good. No comparison to the Bilstein 5150s on my trail rig.

They were ok on my 3" lift too. No complaints-actually like the white bodies a little better. I'm weird.

For 50 a shock I'd just get a white body.
Or save your pennies for 5100s

Napa premium SS pads are all I have been using in any of my cars. Been that way for the past 10 years. Every once in a while a set will squeal for a bit but fades away quickly. You can go wrong with those pads at all.

With 31's it will read roughly
4 mph under

I get about the same. Obviously, the faster you go the more it's off. Tho, it's off about 4mph at highway speeds.

I have a set of Amber after market fog lights that I am planning to install on my 99 XJ within the next couple of days. I am not familiar with wiring lights to a vehicle, and was wondering if anyone could offer me some assistance.

I want them to be able to turn on with the parking lights and dim headlights, but not alone or with the brights. Anyone know how this can be done?

You're making it way too complicated. You can easily make them come on with one or the other but not both.

How about make them come on with the park lights but also be on a switch?

Or only be on when the low beams are on.

There's not a good way to set it up so that they're on with the park lights and low beams but not with the high beams.

If you wire them to the park light curcuit they're going to be on all the time the headlights are on. Even with the high beams.

If you wire them to the low beam circuit they won't be on when only the park lights are on but they'll turn off when you flip the high beam lever.

Get a relay and switch and install by themselves. Will be easiest for ya.

Ok. Thanks, this makes sense. I was hoping it was possible as I see new cars have the capability.

I live in VA and they require at inspection that fog lights only work when the high beams are off. If they are able to come on with the high beams you fail.

You'll need a few relays wired in to do what you're talking about. This should help you out:




I'd just stick with the factory-type setup and force the highbeams to turn them off if I was worried about it. Though if your XJ was shipped without fogs, a lot of pieces are missing.
