ok i've searched and haven't found an answer to this probably so obvious question.. my tie rods are not coming out of each other/pitman arm.. the steering stabilizer is also stuck in there pretty good.. i've tried pbblaster and hammer/pickle fork etc.. wth am i doing wrong? or what can i do to make this easier..

Just keep taking it apart. Have a few beers and take the spare parts and weld them into goofy figures like this:

That is actually the plan for my mailbox post. I need to find a few more broken axle shafts.

I have a couple busted carriers for the body and some 44 ring gears and pinions for the head and arms. Need some long shafts for legs.

^ you 2 are just different. I thought old hardware goes in the nuts and bolts bin. Never would make toys or yard art out of them.

Different in a good way. Both of us. I have an extensive nut and bolt bin set-up. I purposely scrounge the stuff for parts art. How about this? Jeep harmonic balancer on an old track bar. Horseshoes around the balancer. all supported by 2 old lawnmower blades welded into an X on the bottom.

My wife's friend painted it for us.

:sigh: I think I messed up. I was working on my jeep last night for an hour trying to change the radiator cap, thought it was easy but then this happened.

So I have my old battery, which was fine when I pulled it out, yet had been sitting all winter. I'm too cheap to buy a charger.

So here's my idea:
1. Start good XJ
2. Drive it around so that battery is recharged from starting
3. Block something on the throttle for a fast idle
4. Jump extra battery to terminals of running XJ
5. Disconnect cables
6. Place recharged battery in bad XJ
7. Presto, two running Jeeps (maybe)

Does this sound reasonable? Problems I anticipate are the alternator trying to stall my Jeep when the flat battery is connected. Is there a risk of breaking things if I do it this way? Taking care to ensure the Jeep's not trying to charge two batteries at once. "Flat" battery reads 10V and only has enough charge to run the dome light.
