Renix and HO have that same problem. I was lucky with my '01, and I fixed it with a can of compressed air after removing the switch block from the door. It had so much dust, hair, and bugs in it that the switches lost contact.
There's a common cheap fix involving a paperclip, but that's a big fire hazard. For your own safety, don't do it.

I found this write up for 97+
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/ho...-switch-86322/
My problem is the unlock switch is frozen in the lock position.

Hey guys transfer case is out on my 99 xj, looking to replace it. What should i look into? New, remand, rebuild kit? What's the best and easiest as well as cheapest way to go about this for a college student? Also will any transfer case fit as long as it comes from a 4.0L as far as years of xj's go?

Any Jeep NP231 will fit. May be require to swap input gear and tailhousing on older units.
Need more info. What's broken? Prices range wildly. A basic rebuild to replace the busted part could be $50 to $300. Used cases could be $50 to $300 in your area. New I've seen $2000-ish. Remanned maybe $1000.

Uhm i'm not sure what's broke. I just know that it makes a whiny grinding noise when i try to put it in anything other than two high as well when i drive there's a "clunk" below my feet. i've been talking to guy i know and he offered the idea that it was my transfer case. He said it wasn't uncommon for them to just break. I haven't taken it off or anything.

Anyone here have any experience with plexiglass? I'm going to put it in my rear hatch since I busted out the window. I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing. I don't know what to seal it in with, do I use the old window gaskets? A guide or how to would be awesome.
Replaced the the cat yesterday since the slip in pipe rusted through and fell off. Used the catco cat and replaced the muffler and tailpipe as well. Took it for a 5 minute ride to check for leaks and it looked good.
Got a check engine light today with the p0138 code for the rear o2 sensor. Crawled under there and the wires are good, fuses are good. Should I just replace the o2 sensor? Any chance the new cat fouled it or the computer just needs to relearn the new cat?
Car is running fine, just have the light and its annoying.

Squeal from hell.
When I start out could I get a squeal from hell for about 1/2 block then its done. When I restart a few hours later somewhat warm no squeal.
Only thing I have done that may cause this is I removed the mechanical fan.
No other work in that area
