Go to www.lunghd for testing procedures. Check the connection on your MAP first.

Pam, you're in the Cherokee forum and you have a Grand Cherokee.

I moved the post for you.

Default Strange Situation with Air Conditioner

Hi Guys

I am really confused. When I turn on my air conditioning, it starts fine; but while traveling on the freeway accelerating the air almost completely stops. As soon as I take my foot off the gas, the air will start blowing again.

Anyone ever have this problem? I don't even know where to start looking for a problem like this.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Roxanne

You have a vacuum leak.

It's not going away. It's going to defrost. The actuator that moves the blend door is vacuum operated. There is usually a busted vacuum line under the battery tray going to the vacuum cannister.

Should be pretty easy to find.

What model Jeep do you have?

This is typical of a vacuum leak. The HVAC direction door is operated by vaccuum from the engine, when you stomp the pedal the vacuum that your engine is pulling goes way down (has a lot to do with that giant hole you opened in the throttle body). The factory installed a vacuum reservoir to help with this. It is a black ball that lives inside your front bumper. You'll see it if you take the passenger side end cap off. It's common for these to crack or have a problem with the line that feeds them.
