Yes, but rotating it like that has never worked. The dome light did work previously when I had the switches in the doors, so I don't think the fuse is bad. Also, as far as I know, the fuse for the dome light is shared with the rest of the interior lights and maybe even the head/brakelights.

(Edit: actually, the dome light fuse is also the radio/cig lighter fuse... and both of those work.)

Default Alittle help...

Ive got a bit of a story so bear with me. I have a 87 cherokee laredo and the weirdest thing happened. A few weeks ago,a signal light would say LOCK and would fade in and out randomly. I figured it was just a faulty signal. Then about a week ago i had acceleration issues. I would press the gas and it would move a few feet. After hitting the gas a few more times it would drive, only up to like 40mph. My friend told me that my jeep was stuck halfway into 4wd and i needed to lift the transfer case lever up and slam it down to unlock it. im new to cars, and it worked so i figured i was fine. Then a few days ago i had another acceleration issue and pulled over. Tried the trick again but got bad results. If i shift into Park i hear grinding pretty loud, and any other gear but nuetral i get winding and grinding. For a few minutes it would drive into reverse fine...then it kinda just stopped altogether. Now when i throw it into park it still rolls. Its a automatic. I was told my tranny was probably done for. Any suggestions?? It wont drive at all now....

I think this is the reason why my buddy didn't remove the sensors. He removed the whole buzzer assembly

Here's how to adjust your linkage.

Start with that, and when adjusted, use the method below the linkage instructions to shift into and out of 4wd.
Transfer Case Linkage Adjustment
Straight from the FSM:

SHIFT LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT
(1) Shift transfer case into 4L position. (make sure your shifter is fully in the 4L position)
(2) Raise vehicle.
(3) Loosen lock bolt on adjusting trunnion (Fig.
87).
(4) Be sure linkage rod slides freely in trunnion.
Clean rod and apply spray lube if necessary.
(5) Verify that transfer case range lever is fully
engaged in 4L position. (you can do this under the vehicle at the transfer case)
(6) Tighten adjusting trunnion lock bolt.
(7) Lower vehicle

Here's how the factory suggests you shift the transfer case and I've been doing this since these things were new and I worked at the dealership. Quoted from the owner's manual.

"To engage, shift the transfer case lever from 2H to 4H while the vehicle is moving at any legal speed". I let off the gas, throw the lever, and then tap the gas and let off.

4L position: " To engage, slow the vehicle to 2-3 MPH , shift the transmission to Neutral, then shift the transfer lever to the right and pull firmly rearward to 4L".

Mine does not click like the other controls do
I am not sure if this is the problem.
Let's ask this first... Does the button work? If yes, then I'd be willing to bet that it's fine. If no, then it should click like the others.

I want to drain/fill my differential and TC.
The fill plug has a square hole.
What kind of socket tool do I need to buy to unscrew this?

Why the heck would they use this design instead of a typical drain plug like the oil and tranny pan?

Think, McFly. If it WORKED, would I be posting?

Also, just b/c the button doesn't click, it doesn't automatically mean it's broken.
Hence, verifying with someone else's 97-01 XJ to see if their's clicks.

The cruise "set" button might not be meant to click,
and there might be something else wrong with the system.

3/8 driver extension. Because it's easier them stick a bolt it there. You are aware you need to remove the the whole cover to change the fluid right?

Wait, like the azz-end of an standard socket set extension bar?

I might just top it off, instead of doing a full change.
The last owner said he did it like 30k miles ago.
I don't want to get into the whole gasket sealer thing right now.
I can see screwing it up b/c it's not clear how much to use, etc.
I also don't want to risk stripped or busted bolts, if it can be avoided.

Yup, you fill it up until it's full?

To clean a cooling system out. Do you just fill it with water, run it, drain and repeat?

Do some searches for coolant flush Prestone with that attachment you splice on.
