Depends who you ask. I've read Fox are stiffer.

Also I was scrolling through some pictures I've taken and found this. Does this look like a cracked downpipe?

Ques. Do drive side controls link to the passenger

Power coming to the tan wire on the passenger

How would you further diagnose to eliminate

Did you ever get a response? I have the same problem ('99 XJ Limited), pisses off my wife who has to ask me to operate the window for her. Once in a while pass-side switch does work, but generally does not. Window lock does not seem to be the problem. Is the problem at the driver's side or the passenger's? Since driver's side works for all, seems logical it is passenger's switch, but my mechanic seems stumped.

All window switches run off the driver's window switch. The lock switch is probably your issue, as it is very common.

Judging by the horrible quality picture, maybe. Crank the jeep and see if that spot is leaking. Or get a better pic. Either way, clean it up and weld it shut.

I later found the thread on the lockout-bypass approach to paradise. You are surely right, that's gotta be it. 50 million Cherokee owner-posters aren't gonna be wrong. And if I'd taken a bit more time I'd not have said it can't be the lockout ..... 'cause it is.

No worries

I got lucky with my '01, and a can of compressed air fixed it. You won't believe how much dirt, dust, and hair are in that module when you pull it out.

I was thinking about leaf springs today. CJs have 2" wide leafs. XJs and YJs and our bastard pack donators are 2.5" wide. Some larger vehicles are wider.

Is it based on size, weight, or something else? I imagine 2" wide leafs on a dump truck would be weak, but would 3.5" wide leafs on an XJ or YJ (assuming the proper spring rate) be detrimental?

Different width would not be that detrimental if you could fit it in on the spring mounts. stick to 2.5".
more thinner leaves is better then less thicker ones for flexibility and longevity of the arc with the same spring rate.

Buy a Chilton or Haynes manual if you don't have one it will pay for itself in no time. As for the resistor I believe the early models have them behind the HVAC controls, I am not sure about a 01. Those should be easy to pull the center dash panel off and take a look.

88' XJ 4.0 non tilt column

How or where has people mounted an aftermarket tach? I'm not looking to do a cluster swap so don't need advice for that. I mainly want a 2" tach mounted to either the steering column some how or somewhere else??

Anyone with pictures of how you mounted them?

I understand that, and I'm familiar with arch, spring rate, and flex. What I'm curious about is what factors are considered when manufacturers decide which width to use.

Thats a good question.

I figured that the wider the better for side load. As a drawback to that, the flexibility would also be reduced. But other than that, things to consider could be: axle wrap, pack thickness...

Over the years, I did: add a leaf... It sagged, Re arced... it sagged, new spring pack... it sagged. now I made a 3 link coil spring set up and it is awesome. No sag, no spring friction, no down drop restriction from spring, no axle wrap, and its easy to pick proper spring load. (I used same as Grand Cherokee)
