Default Tail Light Conversion help!!!

Ok so first of many posts to come... I got the DesertFab taillight housings and am trying to wire them into my 98 xj.. (I got the reverse lights fine..) Problem is the XJ has 1 bulb for Stop/Running and One for blinker. The light that comes with the Housing is a standard 6 in (Non LED) oval Stop,Tail, Turn. AFter playing with a Test light for an hour here's what I got so far. (Top Bulb)- Brake,Running Ground wires.. (Middle Bulb)- Signal and Ground. The oval light has White=Ground, Black=Tail Red=Signal.. I feel like I have tried every combination to get everything working properly. Does any one know what the proper wiring would be? Also do I need a converter for this setup cause DF is telling me I dont... Please... Someone..

You can hear the front shaft and everything spinning an grinding when you go into 4wd but really all I takes is a dirt road area and mash your gas your back tires should spin out in 2wd then go to 4wd an try it you should see a difference

Although what your saying might be true he may not know what goin slow enough with 4wd on a turn means and might take it at a normal speed

I have a 96 2.5l. Can I swap in a 4.0L from 97 and up XJs? What all do I need from the donor XJ in case i find one? OR would it just be easier to rebuild the 2.5?

Yea that's the beauty about shift on the fly just don't do it above 10-12 mph or you'll grind your fears. A fun way to test your 4wd is to find a good snow pile and crawl it in 4wd or trails if you have them by you

Heck yes you can.

Motor mounts need to be relocated. ECU and wiring harness swapped. You're also going to need to swap the transmission and TCU, since the AX-5/30RH that comes behind the 2.5L engine isn't strong enough for the 4.0L engine.

once in a blue moon my gauges dont work on my 98 XJ, and I have to tap on the cluster and they come on. is there a quick fix (like soldering a joint, or bad conection), or do I need a new cluster?

same here in my 99. pull the cluster and clean/check all connections almost like cleaning your nss. should do the trick
