Okay. Used the search and found a common issue but not really a conclusion, and browsed through this thread a bit but Im not seeing an answer so I will ask, hopefully not again The vehicle: 1993 ZJ Limited, i6, stock. Got a tail lamp error the other day, went through the easy top of the list things but cant come down to what the problem is. Its the brake lights not working. Tail lights, revrs lights, and signal all working, just not the brake lights. Checked bulbs, they look good and good connection, and looked for fuses but im not finding one for tail or brake lights. Am I not seeing it? And also what on the switch bhind the pedal should I look for?
Thanx.
Thanx.

It was never hooked up and hasn't been for the past 2 years. I bought it that way. So I just figured I'd ask what it all does. And if it's important.
And also where it hooks into. Bc I don't have any clue. No lines from it connect anywhere. It looks as the lines are cut.

Finally managed to get my project XJ started, thats a good thing.
Now I turn my lights on and get nothing at all to the front, rear is working though. (well, the right brake light is out, but I think thats the bulb). No headlights, nothing at all.
I have recently had the front grill and left fender off repairing the door hinge. Not sure if they were working before that, but I was told they were when it was parked last Oct.
My question is what a re the common points for the forward lights that would not effect the rear ones? Is there a ground hidden somewhere I should be looking for?
I can just trace wires when I get home, but if ayone has any ideas it might save me some time.
Thanks.

Need some help...I have a 1991 XJ with 4.0L EFI and a 2001 XJ with 4.0L EFI of course. I have some issues with the 01 and think it may have the notorious 0331 head. However I need to drive it. Can I temporarily install the 1991 4.0 in my 2001 XJ while I have the other motor on the stand I need to check it out there's coolant in the oil pan!!! But I need to drive it with the 1991 motor if possible. Thanks in advance.
You need to just get the head on the '01 replaced. You should be able to get it done in one day easy (unlike swapping an entire engine).

Ik it's put there for a reason. And well my defrost works for side windows and windshield.
It was never hooked up and hasn't been for the past 2 years. I bought it that way. So I just figured I'd ask what it all does. And if it's important.
And also where it hooks into. Bc I don't have any clue. No lines from it connect anywhere. It looks as the lines are cut.

i'd say the lines are on the pass side under the hood if your concerned about your vents and whatnot
do you know if yu have a vac controled axle?

Yep, the dip in RPM happens only whole stationary, as Im never at idle while moving even though I have a 5 mile downhill on the way home. The dip drops it down to about 400rpm before going back up to the usual 800~900 if I remember right. I havent timed it with a stopwatch or anything, but I'd say it happens every two minutes or so, with smooth idle inbetween. Even through the dip its smooth.
